Alice Glass Calls Out Crystal Castles for Video Removal

Alice Glass is no longer the singer in Crystal Castles. The split with Ethan Kath, announced in 2014, was contentious. Kath has continued Crystal Castles with new singer Edith Frances—their new album arrives next month. Glass has gone solo, releasing a new single last year called “Stillbirth.” Last night on Instagram (below), Glass pointed out that the official videos for “Affection” and “Sad Eyes” were apparently removed from YouTube without her “knowledge or consent.” She continued: “this is an unsurprising epilogue to my time in that band and just another obvious attempt to devalue and disrespect me. i may have been quiet recently but my fire will not be put out.”

A representative for Crystal Castles called Glass’ response to the videos’ YouTube disappearance a “misunderstanding.” The band have notified YouTube and VEVO that those videos, as well as the videos for the post-Glass Crystal Castles songs “Frail” and “Deicide,” have been removed in certain territories. While they don’t have a clear timeline on when the “YouTube issue” will be resolved, they point out that those videos are available to watch on Crystal Castles’ website.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story erroneously indicated that Glass departed Crystal Castles last year. She left the band in 2014. Last year it was revealed that the project would continue without Glass.
