Amazon’s Alexa Can Now Name Your Band

Amazon’s voice-controlled home assistant Amazon Echo, aka Alexa, can play music, order groceries, give you the weather forecast, and do many, many more things you didn’t know you needed a small black object that lives in your house to do. And now, it can also name your band. Just enable the Band Name Generator skill on your Echo device and tell Alexa to “name my band,” and she will give you a name. If you don’t like it, tell Alexa “that sucks,” and she’ll try again. If you hear the perfect name, tell Alexa “awesome name, thanks” and she’ll say “I hope I helped. Your mom said you are very talented. I’m sure she’s right and your band rocks.”

Our initial results were mixed, as the generator offered us such potential future small-type-on-the-Coachella-poster residents as “The Cautiously Illustrious,” “Woebegone Slimy,” “Drip Upward,” “The Strongly,” and, um, “Racial Cub.”
