Arab Strap Reunite

Arab Strap Reunite

Arab Strap, the beloved Scottish duo of Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton, are back. They announced the news earlier today during an interview on Steve Lamacq’s show on BBC Radio 6. The duo originally broke up in 2006, after the release of their last studio album, 2005’s The Last Romance. “There’s no animosity, no drama,” they wrote back then. “We simply feel we’ve run our course. The Last Romance seems the most obvious and logical final act of the Arab Strap studio adventure. Everybody likes a happy ending.” Since then, the group has released reissues and compilations. During the interview, they said that when they broke up, they discussed reuniting 10 years down the line. They joked that they’ve been arguing over which songs they’ll play at their shows. They also said they’ll see how the shows go and then will weigh whether or not they want to write new music together. During the show, they also shared an updated version of their song “The First Big Weekend” called, appropriately, “The First Big Weekend of 2016.” Listen to the full interview (starting at 2:05:32) here.
