Area Man Dancing for 24 Hours Straight to Save Fabric Nightclub
It’s been one month since the famed London nightclub Fabric had its license revoked by the Islington Council and was forced to close. The club launched the #saveourculture campaign to fund an appeal of the council’s decision, which is scheduled for next month, and is still accepting donations. In what is probably the most strenuous of generous gestures, a Fabric fan named Tim Griffith has committed himself to a 24-hour marathon dance session outside Fabric’s doors to raise money for the legal fund. It is going on right now.
Griffith launched a GoFundMe for the danceathon, and is seeking to ultimately raise £2,000. Griffith started at 12pm GMT today and will continue to dance, if he can, until noon tomorrow. He will only stop for toilet breaks. Griffith wrote on his GoFundMe page, “please, please, please, if anyone can come along at any time (but especially Saturday morning) to give me some moral support and come and help me strut, chop, shuffle, shake, wobble, fist-pump my way to the finish line I would REALLY appreciate it.”
He adds that “anyone and everyone is welcome to join in, dance and support,” but Fabric has “insisted that this cannot become a street party, or turn into any kind of mini-rave.” Below you can find video of Griffith dancing outside the club.
