Autre Ne Veut Announces Age of Transparency, Shares Fleshy "World War Pt. 2" Video

Arthur Ashin is back with a new Autre Ne Veut album called Age of Transparency. The Anxiety follow-up is out October 2 via Downtown. The first single he’s shared from the album is “World War Pt. 2″, and it comes with a video directed by Allie Avital. The video features an entirely nude Ashin, who has a nude woman (portrayed by Macy Sullivan) latched onto him.

The album—described as part two in a trilogy of albums—was produced by Ashin and mixed by Tony Maserati (Beyoncé, Notorious B.I.G., Lady Gaga). In a statement, Ashin discussed the album’s themes.

The title comes from marketing jargon. It’s a term for the place we’re in now, where truth and transparency are just ways to sell things and honesty is its own kind of performance. … Transparency is an impossibility. It’s more about trying to be transparent and falling on your face in the process.

The album’s sessions began at Manhattan’s Avatar Studios, where Ashin recorded with a jazz combo. “I’ve been listening to jazz since I was a kid and wanted to experiment with it,” he said in a statement. “For me, it taps into this comforting and antiquated  image of the truth.” Back at his home studio, he heavily edited that source material.
