Azealia Banks’ Twitter Has Been Suspended

Azealia Banks' Twitter Has Been Suspended

Earlier this week, Azealia Banks directed a series of racist tweets at Zayn Malik. In the ensuing hubbub, Banks was dropped from the lineup for Rinse FM’s Born & Bred Festival. She later offered an apology to “everyone except the targets of my tirades.” Banks’ Twitter account has now been suspended, as XXL points out.

Banks has a contentious history using Twitter. In March, she said she was quitting Twitter altogether, but returned after a brief absence. In April, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin threatened to sue Banks after Banks posted a series of very graphic tweets about Palin. Over the years, she’s also beefed with several artists via Twitter. In recent weeks, she took shots at Iggy Azalea

According to Twitter, accounts may be suspended for “abusive tweets or behavior.” Their website reads: “We may suspend an account if it has been reported to us as violating our Rules surrounding abuse. When an account engages in abusive behavior, like sending threats to others or impersonating other accounts, we may suspend it temporarily or, in some cases, permanently.”
