Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None” Season 2: The Music in Every Episode

Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None” Season 2: The Music in Every Episode

The second season of Aziz Ansari’s hit Netflix series “Master of None” premieres today. Like the first season, it features some great music. David Bowie, Kraftwerk, D’Angelo, Tupac Shakur, Digable Planets, and Vengaboys—yes, Vengaboys—are just some of the artists heard throughout the season’s episodes. The show also features a performance from John Legend covering a Michael Jackson classic, some Italian music to match the show’s early setting in Italy (including Mac DeMarco favorite Ryan Paris), and “Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)” as a minor plotline. See the full list below (if you don’t mind some very mild spoilers) and check out Pitchfork’s playlists of the songs on Spotify and Apple Music. The official soundtrack for the new season has also been announced, with a vinyl edition to ship later this summer.

The first season of the show featured music from Aphex Twin, Father John Misty, the Slits, Arthur Russell, Lou Reed, New Edition, Spandau Ballet, and more. Revisit our interview with Ansari about it here.
