Beastie Boys’ Mike D Gets Beats 1 Show

Beastie Boys’ Mike D is the latest artist to get a show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio station. He announced the news on Zane Lowe’s show earlier today. It’s called “The Echo Chamber,” and the debut episode is this Friday, July 15 at 3 p.m. Eastern. New episodes will arrive every two weeks in that same time slot.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mike D revealed some of the show’s planned guests, including Blood Orange, Cassius, and Slaves. He added that he will play Chance the Rapper, Arthur Russell, and Lil Yachty songs, among others. The title, he said, was inspired by Jamaican dub music. He called getting his own radio show “some weird wish fulfillment” because he is “able to cut out the middle man and play records and have it be somehow part of a vocation.” Read the full interview here, and listen to his discussion with Zane Lowe below.
