Bernie Sanders Ends Iowa Caucus Speech With David Bowie's "Starman"

Tonight was the first major electoral event on the road to the presidency—the Iowa caucus. Democratic candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are currently in a virtual tie. After Sanders’ speech in Des Moines, he walked off while David Bowie‘s “Starman” played over the speakers. Watch it happen below (around the 16:35 mark).

As PBS points out, the song has been a part of his campaign in the days leading up to the Iowa caucus.

Several high-profile musicians have endorsed Sanders at this point: Neil YoungVampire Weekend, Lil B, Killer Mike, Jeff Tweedy, Thurston MooreDirty Projectors’ Dave LongstrethMC5′s Wayne Kramer, and many others.
