Bernie Sanders Visits Apollo Theater for Talk with Harry Belafonte, Erica Garner, Nina Turner: Watch
Tonight, Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held a “Community Conversation” at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. It featured a panel discussion with Sanders, Harry Belafonte, activist Erica Garner, and former Ohio state Senator Nina Turner. Jhené Aiko was the musical guest at the event. Many musicians have come out in support of Sanders. Earlier this month, Best Coast played at a Sanders rally at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon introduced him at an Eau Claire rally, too. In March, the Thermals opened for him at a Portland rally. In January, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth played at an Iowa rally. Koenig also discussed Sanders on CNN. And Killer Mike has given speeches at rallies, interviewed Sanders at length, talked about him on “Colbert,” been on a panel with him about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and represented him in a post-debate spin room. Sanders also recently appeared on “Ebro in the Morning” on Hot 97.
