Earlier this year, BJ the Chicago Kid released his new record In My Mind on Motown Records. On June 24, he will honor his Motown forebear Marvin Gaye with a posthumous duet on the singer’s “What’s Going On,” which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. It will be released as part of a 10” vinyl EP as one of two “Motown: Re-imagined” versions of the song. The What’s Going On EP (out on Motown) also includes original 7” mono single versions of “What’s Going On” and “God Is Love,” as well as a “Coffeehouse Mix” of the title track.
In a press release, BJ said “Marvin Gaye is a huge inspiration to me.” He added, “The music he graced us with gave the world a little more beauty, and a lot more soul.” BJ is also heading out in a world tour. See his schedule below.
