Update: Vernon and Dessner spoke to each other for Interview, and discussed the process behind the festival. “You go to Minneapolis and you see probably the most diverse music scene that I’ve ever seen in the world, and no one is really hating on each other, but everything is extremely far out and way different from each other,” Vernon said. “That scene is very much like what we have here in Eau Claire. We’re trying to bring some of it back.”

Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon and the National‘s Aaron Dessner are starting the inaugural Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, a two-day festival slated to take place in Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin July 18-20. After teasing the lineup through the mail, the duo have announced it in full, accompanied by a video short detailing both the festival and the heritage of the surrounding Chippewa River Valley.

Low, Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, the Tallest Man on Earth, Poliça, Boys Noize, Melt-Banana, Doomtree, Phil Cook, S. Carey and Field Report, Phox and Colin Stetson are just some of the confirmed acts. Additionally, Vernon and Dessner will each deliver sets alongside their respective bands. Oh, and Indigo Girls will be there too, performing their album Swamp Ophelia in full. Check out the full lineup here.

Here’s what Vernon had to say about Eaux Claires in a press release:

We at Eaux Claires have been driven by the idea that our festival would encourage music-genre-walls to melt away. That the barriers between the stage and the audience altered, and expression and experience put above all. We have put so much thought into who should collaborate at this festival, from musicians to actors, filmmakers to visual artists. We will all share and revel in this collision of artistic force while performing inthe arms of our own Chippewa River Valley.
