Bono's Gruesome Bike Accident Injuries Detailed

On Sunday, Bono was injured in a cycling accident in Central Park, forcing the cancellation of U2‘s planned week-long residency on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. Now, the details of his injuries and subsequent surgery have been revealed, as Rolling Stone reports.

Dean Lorich, a surgeon who operated on Bono, gave a statement Rolling Stone saying that Bono fractured his eye socket, his shoulder blade, his upper arm, and his left pinky finger. The upper arm injury sounds particularly painful—his humerus bone broke into six pieces, went through his skin, and required five hours of surgery.

Additionally, Lorich wrote that Bono “will require intensive and progressive therapy.” Even so, “a full recovery is expected.”

Apart from the “Fallon” residency, U2 had been planning a tour in support of the recently released Songs of Innocence. The band has yet to make a statement about how those plans may change.
