BRIT Awards 2017: Watch David Bowie’s Award Accepted by Michael C. Hall

David Bowie won Best British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year at tonight’s BRIT Awards. Accepting the first award on his behalf was Michael C. Hall, who starred in Bowie’s Lazarus musical. He began the speech, “If David Bowie could be here tonight, he probably wouldn’t be here tonight.” Watch the full thing below. Duncan Jones, Bowie’s son, accepted the latter award—scroll down to watch his speech and see a follow-up tweet. See the full list of BRIT winners here.

Bowie’s posthumous honor at the BRITs follows his various Grammy Awards. He won all five awards for which he was nominated, including Best Rock Song for Blackstar’s title track. The victories marked the first time he received musical awards at the ceremony.
