Captain Beefheart Box Set Sun Zoom Spark: 1970 to 1972, Featuring Unreleased Tracks, Announced

Shortly after Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band released their classic album Trout Mask Replica, Don Van Vliet released three Beefheart LPs: Lick My Decals Off, Baby in 1970, The Spotlight Kid in 1972, and that same year, Clear Spot. A new box set called Sun Zoom Spark: 1970 to 1972 will collect those three albums plus 14 previously unreleased outtakes.

The box set—which will be available both in 4xCD and 4xLP form—is out November 11 via Rhino. The outtakes disc features early mixes, alternate takes, instrumental versions, and more.
