Caribou, Hot Chip, Junior Boys Members Team Up for New Experimental Album

Members of Caribou, Floating Points, Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, and Junior Boys are coming together for a new album performing the 1973 experimental score Tactus Tempus. The album is out March 17 on Bandcamp (via Geej Recordings) and March 24 everywhere else. The original version, created by composer Frank McCarty, was a graphic-based work performed by his group BIOME on 5 EMS Synthi synthesizers.

The group of musicians formed spontaneously, gathering for two new performances of the score during collective down time in London in July 2016 at Joe Goddard’s basement studio. Each player on the record used a separate synthesizer or modular synthesizer system while the orginal slides from McCarty’s work were projected on the wall. The ensemble recorded two versions of the piece, each one recorded live in one 15-minute take: one version is tonal the other is noises and impulses. Find the art below.
