Chad Hugo Announces “Official Retirement”

Chad Hugo has announced his official retirement from the music industry. The producer and songwriter best known for being one-half of the Neptunes and a member of N.E.R.D. (both with Pharrell) issued a tweet earlier today saying, “I resign from the music business. Thanks again, people, for your support throughout all these years. Good luck/God bless!” (He’s since deleted the original tweet; find a screenshot below.) Update (05/21 6:55 p.m. ET): A rep for Chad Hugo has clarified the producer’s tweet, saying it was a “bad joke.” While N.E.R.D. have not released an album since 2010’s Nothing, Pharrell hinted at a new full-length from them back in November at ComplexCon, saying it would come “when it’s time.” The status of that album is unknown.
