Chance the Rapper Takes Out Adorable Ad Asking for Grammy Nomination

Chance the Rapper has taken out a full-page ad in the latest print issue of Billboard, asking Grammy voters to consider him for awards in the upcoming months. While artists usually take out ads in Billboard and other industry publications touting accolades and press quotes, Chance seems to take a simpler approach: It features him in overalls, and simply says, “Hey, why not me?” See it below.

The October issue of Billboard features the annual Grammy Preview, and includes Chance, Alessia Cara, and country artist Maren Morris on the cover. Check out that story here before the issue comes out October 15.

Eligibility for the 2017 Grammys began October 1, 2015 and ended September 30, 2016. Ballots go out later this week, and nominations are announced December 6. This past summer, the Recording Academy changed the rules of Grammy eligibility so that streaming-only releases could be up for consideration. Chance’s album Coloring Book is notably a streaming-only release (although the Academy stated that the album’s success is not what inspired their decision). In his verse on Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo opener “Ultralight Beam,” Chance raps about his aspirations to win a Grammy while still not selling his music.
