Chief Keef‘s intent to perform as a hologram at a memorial concert for a slain toddler has turned into quite a debacle. First, a planned show in Chicago was postponed, then moved to Hammond, Indiana, only to be shut down by the police. As Billboard reports, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office issued a statement calling Keef “an unacceptable role model,” and saying that his music “promotes violence.” City Hall also said the concert “posed a significant public safety risk.”

Keef expressed his anger by encouraging his fans to call Chicago City Hall, and also by claiming that he’s going to run for Mayor himself. In a new interview with Billboard, Keef said that Chicago city officials were “hating.” “They don’t want to see a young black man be successful and try to do something good,” he said. “It’s crazy.” He added, “If you ask me, man, fuck the mayor with a sandpaper dick! Say it like that.”

When asked by Billboard if he’s serious about running for mayor, Keef said, “Hell yeah, I’m running! I’m going to get all the ballots and everything. Chief Keef for mayor! Vote for me! They’re going to love me when I get into office. I’m going to make everything right.” However, as Billboard points out, Keef can’t legally run for mayor due to a previous gun charge.

Keef’s camp believes the police shutdown of the concert was illegal, citing First Amendment rights. Alki David, who owns Keef’s record label FilmOn as well as the hologram company Hologram USA, told Billboard, “We’re most definitely going to pursue this [in court]. Municipal leaders are dictating what young people can listen to. It’s absurd. There is zero justification.”

David and Keef are still trying to make the concert happen, though. A plan to have the hologram perform simultaneously in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles this September hit a setback today when David engaged in a back-and-forth with the Madison Square Garden Company, which owns the downtown Chicago venue the Chicago Theatre. As Billboard reports, David claims MSG backed out of an agreement to host the concert. MSG claims there was never an agreement in the first place.

Keef’s new album Bang 3 is set for release August 18 via FilmOn. It includes the track “Ain’t Missing You”:
