Ciara Ends Lawsuit Against Future

Ciara has ended her remaining lawsuit against Future, her former fiancé and the father of her son. The final claim brought against the rapper was for “false light,” a similar claim to defamation that does not require proof of harm. Now, TMZ reports that Ciara’s “false light” suit has been dropped and that it has been dismissed “with prejudice,” which means that she will be unable to file it again.

Ciara’s legal drama with Future began a year ago in January 2016, when she sued Future for $15 million for alleged slander and libel. He countersued, before ultimately dropping that suit once a court ruling gave him joint custody of his and Ciara’s child. Ciara continued on with her lawsuit, alleging that Future was threatening to murder her husband, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Ciara ended the defamation claim against Future in October. Future’s lawyer declined to comment to Pitchfork. A lawyer for Ciara did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
