David Lynch Says He Is Done Making Movies

In a new interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, David Lynch says that, after directing classics like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, he is no longer interested in making feature films. Lynch suggests that his experience working on his last film, 2006’s Inland Empire, and the shifting landscape of cinema influenced his desire to step away from the industry. “Things changed a lot,” he explains, “So many films were not doing well at the box office even though they might have been great films and the things that were doing well at the box office weren’t the things that I would want to do.”

Luckily, we still have Lynch’s television work to look forward to. His “Twin Peaks” reboot is set to debut May 21 on Showtime, taking place 25 years after the murder of Laura Palmer. A new trailer for the show was recently released, featured many of its original cast members. Watch it below.
