Dead or Alive Singer Pete Burns Dead at 57

Pete Burns, lead singer of British dance-pop band Dead or Alive, has died, NME reports. He was 57. In a statement shared to Burns’ Twitter account, his family and management team broke the news that Burns had suddenly suffered a “massive cardiac arrest.” “All of his friends and family are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful, talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories that he left us with.” Read the full note below.

While Burns had hits like “Lover Come Back To Me” and “Brand New Lover,” he is perhaps best known for the Dead or Alive song “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record).” That song not only hit the Billboard 100 upon its release but was sampled by Flo Rida for his number one single “Right Round.” Burns participated in the British reality television show “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2006.
