Deerhoof Announce New Album, Release Side Projects Featuring Death Grips, More

Deerhoof have been tapped as 2017 “artist in residence” at Joyful Noise Recordings this year. Their releases will trickle out in several phases; the first phase features four new releases from various Deerhoof side projects, which are available now. One of those projects is Nervous Cop, a group featuring the members of Deerhoof alongside Andy Morin and Zach Hill of Death Grips. (Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier and Hill previously collaborated under that name in 2003.) Other projects include Oneone (Satomi Matsuzaki and Tenniscoats’ Saya), who have released their second collaborative EP. Find those side project releases here, with a track from each project available to stream.

Deerhoof have also announced the second phase of their residency under Joyful Noise will be their next studio album. The last phase will include “contain two more split-LPs with four more projects which remain completely non-revealed at this time.” All of the releases will be packaged as a vinyl box set to be released later this year—find that here. Deerhoof released their last album, The Magic, last year.
