When Donald Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States, he walked out to Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ in the Free World”. Young, of course, was not OK with this and wrote a statement explaining why he didn’t approve. Today, Trump wrote a series of tweets hitting back at Young.

.@Neilyoung A few months ago Neil Young came to my office looking for $$ on an audio deal & called me last week to go to his concert. Wow!

For the nonbeliever, here is a photo of @Neilyoung in my office and his $$ request—total hypocrite. pic.twitter.com/Xm4BJvetIa

.@Neilyoung’s song, “Rockin’ In The Free World” was just one of 10 songs used as background music. Didn’t love it anyway.

The photo and events alluded to above refer to Young’s attempts to raise funds for Pono

Young has endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders for president, who used “Rockin’ in the Free World” at a recent rally (despite Young’s “I make my music for people not for candidates” stance).

Watch Young perform the song on “Saturday Night Live” in 1989:
