Donald Trump Demands Apology from Hamilton Cast for “Harassing” Mike Pence

Last night, Mike Pence attended a performance of Hamilton. When his presence became known at the theater, the audience booed him. Then, after the show ended, Brandon Victor Dixon—who plays Aaron Burr—addressed Pence directly. “We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir,” he said. “But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values.” Watch it happen here. Donald Trump demanded an apology from the cast of Hamilton this morning in a pair of tweets. He claimed that Dixon and the cast “harassed” Pence.

Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

Last night, Lin-Manuel Miranda—the creator of the show who is no longer a member of the Broadway cast—tweeted his support of Dixon and the rest of the cast’s decision to address Pence. He also made it clear that he didn’t endorse the audience booing the Vice President-elect.

Proud of @HamiltonMusical. Proud of @BrandonVDixon, for leading with love.
And proud to remind you that ALL are welcome at the theater.

Questlove shared an Instagram post praising the Hamilton cast, jokingly comparing them to N.W.A.:
