Dr. Dre, Ice Cube Named as Defendants in Suge Knight Murder Lawsuit

In February, Suge Knight was charged with murder by the Los Angeles County district attorney following the hit and run death of Terry Carter. Now, Carter’s family is suing Knight for wrongful death and negligence. They’ve also named Dr. Dre and Ice Cube as defendants, as TMZ reports.

The incident took place near a promotional shoot for Straight Outta Compton, the forthcoming N.W.A. biopic. In the suit, Carter’s family alleges that Dr. Dre and Ice Cube hired gang members to provide security for the shoot, and that those gang members subsequently instigated the incident that led to Terry Carter’s death.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures, who are distributing Straight Outta Compton, have also been named as defendants. Carter’s family claims that Universal displayed negligence when they “continued filming in Compton, CA after Dr. Dre told the production that Knight was dangerous,” reports Variety.

Carter’s family is seeking unspecified damages.
