Ennio Morricone and Ryuichi Sakamoto have been nominated for 2016 Golden Globes in the category of Best Original Score. Morricone was recognized for his work on Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, while Sakamoto (as well as collaborator Alva Noto) got the nod for his work on Alejandro Iñárritu’s The Revenant. Carter Burwell’s score for Carol, Alexandre Desplat’s score for The Danish Girl, and Daniel Pemberton’s score for Steve Jobs were also nominated.
Meanwhile, Brian Wilson, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, and Wiz Khalifa got nods in the category of Best Original Song. Wilson is up for “One Kind of Love” from Love & Mercy; Smith is up for “Writing’s On the Wall” from Spectre; Goulding is up for “Love Me Like You Do” from Fifty Shades of Grey; Khalifa is up for “See You Again” for Furious 7. Sumi Jo’s “Simple Song #3″ from Youth was also nominated.
Additionally, Aziz Ansari was nominated for Best Actor, Comedy for his work on Master of None.
