Fetty Wap Sued Over “Trap Queen”: Report

Fetty Wap has been sued over his hit single “Trap Queen,” TMZ reports. A Danish musician named Lazar Lakic has sued Fetty and producer Tony Fadd, claiming that he “purchased the exclusive rights” to the song’s instrumental, and has not received any compensation for the song’s success: “Trap Queen,” which was included on Fetty Wap, has gone 4x platinum in the United States. Lakic is reportedly suing for the song’s profits and wants all copies of “Trap Queen” destroyed and all sales of the track ceased.

According to TMZ, Lakic said that Tony Fadd tried to buy back the rights to the instrumental–first billed as a track called “Hello”– in January 2015, just before “Trap Queen” reached the Billboard Hot 100. Lakic reportedly declined the offer.

Fetty Wap’s attorney has told TMZ that the rapper “legally bought the beat from Fadd” and has a contract as proof. As a result of his contract, Fetty Wap will have Tony Fadd cover any damages awarded to Lazar Lakic, according to TMZ.
