Flying Lotus Plays New Thundercat Song, Interviews Herbie Hancock For BBC Radio 1 Residency

Flying Lotus hosted his first BBC Radio 1 Residency today, playing a mix of Young Thug, James Blake, Rae Sremmurd, War, Run the Jewels, Can, Pink Floyd, a guest mix from producer Jeremiah Jae, and much more.

He also played a new, unreleased Thundercat song, an unreleased edit of his You’re Dead! Kendrick Lamar team-up “Never Catch Me”, as well as two other unreleased tracks “Theme (Alternative Edit)” and “Post Requisite”.

Herbie Hancock, who was featured on Flying Lotus’ You’re Dead!, was also in the studio to discuss the idea of inspiration and the creative impulse. “The human being has infinite potential,” he tells FlyLo, “and as an expression of that infinite potential there’s always something more that you can explore and create”.

Listen to the mix now over at the BBC.
