Flying Lotus Says New Feature Film Will Include New Aphex Twin Music
This past weekend, Flying Lotus made his directorial debut (under the alias “steve”) at the Sundance NEXT Fest at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. FlyLo called the short film (Royal) “an awkward love story that’s definitely not for the kiddies.” He made sure the audience was prepared for it by giving out barf bags (branded with the title) at the premiere. Now, he’s revealed that Royal is part of a feature film called Kuso.
In a tweet, he said, he’s “been steady filming low key this year with some talented folks.” He added, “Decided to follow my heart and make a film. Don’t have financial support and spending a lot of time begging for favors but it feels right.” FlyLo divulged some information about the music in Kuso, as well. He said there will be new music from Captain Murphy (his rap alter ego), Aphex Twin, Thundercat, and Akira Yamoaka. He also revealed that he tried to get Dave Chappelle in Kuso, but “Shit got too spooopy.”
FlyLo said that Kuso is 65 percent finished, and he’s looking for help to get it to 100.
