Frank Ocean’s Mom Warns Against Paying Insane eBay Prices for Boys Don’t Cry Magazine
On Saturday, Frank Ocean gave away copies of his Boys Don’t Cry magazine at locations in New York, London, L.A., and Chicago. (The same night, Ocean also released his new album Blonde.) Within hours, the zine and its accompanying CD were up on eBay, selling for exorbitant sums. Sellers have set buy-it-now prices as lofty as $1,000 and auction prices over $500 as of the writing of this post. In the early hours of this morning, Ocean’s mother, Katonya Breaux Riley, cautioned fans against buying the magazine on eBay, hinting that it may become more widely available soon. (Riley’s voice can be heard on Blonde track “Be Yourself.”)

In related news, the Verge reports that Blonde will be an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks. Also according to the Verge, the album’s release was allegedly delayed due to The New York Times‘ story announcing the album would be out August 5. The Times report “caused Ocean and his team to push the project back after they lost the element of surprise,” the Verge claims, citing “a source close to the situation.”
