Fucked Up’s Damian Abraham to Moderate Toronto Mayoral Debate

Damian Abraham spends most of his time yowling as the singer of Fucked Up, but he also has a dual life as a responsible citizen. On September 29, he’ll moderate a debate between several political candidates vying to become the mayor of Toronto, as Stereogum points out. 

The event takes place at TIFF Bell Lightbox’s Cinema One, and includes candidates Olivia Chow, Ari Goldkind, and John Tory. (David Soknacki is listed as participating, but he has withdrawn from the race, as Stereogum points out.) Sadly, current mayor and public trainwreck Rob Ford has only been invited—his participation is not confirmed. (Abraham’s first question, should Ford show up: “So… why are you fucked up?” The crowd goes wild.) The debate will also be live streamed at Now Toronto.

The candidates will be debating “the role of arts and culture in our city,” according to the event’s site. The debate is being put on by the arts organization ArtsVote.
