Gallant Duets With Seal on "Weight in Gold"

Earlier this year, Gallant launched “In the Room,” a video series where he collaborates with artists that have inspired him. The first episode featured Sufjan Stevens; the second installment features Seal. Their performance of Gallant’s single “Weight in Gold” was recorded in one take at Paramount Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Watch it below.

Gallant said of the collaboration:

“Seal was the guy that made it okay to straddle genres—he just absolutely refused to conform. Hearing his lyrics as a kid completely transformed my idea of being an artist, being honest in what you write, being black… all of it… and to be even standing in the same room as him let alone singing a song I wrote with the dude was utterly unreal.”

“Weight in Gold” appears on Gallant’s album Ology, which is out April 6 via Mind of a Genius.
