George Clinton Readies New Album for Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder, Performs With Thundercat: Listen

Funk icon George Clinton has announced plans to release a new album via Flying Lotus’ label Brainfeeder. Clinton and Flying Lotus announced the news during an interview with KCRW, revealing that a new album is coming “next year, hopefully.” When asked what people should expect from the new album, Clinton replied, “As always, we expect to tear the roof off the sucker.” Listen to his performance with Funkadelic, Parliament, and Thundercat here. Clinton responded to Flying Lotus’ tweet: “Woof.”

The funk icon previously teamed up with Flying LotusShabazz Palaces, and Thundercat in a new group called WOKE. Clinton also worked with Flying Lotus and Thundercat on “Wesley’s Theory,” the opening track of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. Clinton will perform as part of Brainfeeder’s Hollywood Bowl show on September 17.

Earlier today, also on KCRW, Thundercat premiered a new song called “Bus in These Streets.”
