Google Launches Chrome Music Lab

March is Music In Our Schools Month. To mark the occasion (and make it a little easier to learn music,) Google has launched the Chrome Music Lab, a diverse set of 12 interactive music-making widgets. Visitors can program drum loops and oscillatory patterns (which are subsequently banged out by cute cartoon characters), view a spectrogram, play around with an “arpeggio wheel,” distort their voices with a tool called the “voice spinner,” and much more. There’s even a “Kandinsky” tool that lets you turn doodles into sound (like the Pitchfork logo, seen above). Additionally, most of the instruments feature open-source code for additional experimentation. Head here to check it out (via FACT.)
