Grammy Awards Nominations Announced

The nominations for the 2015 Grammy Awards continue to roll in. Rather than do a big announcement of everything all at once, this year, the Recording Academy decided to reveal the categories slowly throughout the day, via the Twitter accounts of various celebrities. All except for Album of the Year: that announcement will be made tonight during the “A Very Grammy Christmas” special on CBS. “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX, “Chandelier” by Sia, “Stay With Me” (Darkchild version) by Sam Smith, “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift, and “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor are nominated for Record of the Year.

The Song of the Year nominees are “Chandelier”, “Shake It Off”, “All About That Bass”, “Stay With Me”, and Hozier’s “Take Me to Church”. (Sorry, “Fancy”.)

Haim, Bastille, Sam Smith, Iggy Azeala, and Brandy Clark have been nominated for Best New Artist, as announced by Alanis Morissette.

Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig announced the Best Alternative Music Album nominees, which are Arcade Fire, Jack White, St. Vincent, Alt-J, and Cage the Elephant.

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo announced the nominations for Best Music Video, which are Arcade Fire’s “We Exist”, DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What”, Sia’s “Chandelier”, Pharrell’s “Happy”, and Woodkid’s “The Good Kid” featuring Max Richter.

Jack White, Beck, Ryan Adams, the Black Keys, and Paramore are up for Best Rock Song. Weirdly, Jared Leto got to announce the Best Rock Album nominees: U2, the Black Keys, Beck, Ryan Adams, and Tom Petty.

LL Cool J announced the Best Rap Performance nominations: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Childish Gambino, Lecrae. Angie Martinez did Best Rap Album: Eminem, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q, Common, Wiz Khalifa, and Iggy Azalea.

Kylie Minogue announced the nominees for Best Dance Recording: Basement Jaxx’s “Never Say Never”, Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be”, Disclosure’s version of “F for You” featuring Mary J. Blige, Duke Dumont and Jax Jones’ “I Got You”, and “Faded” by ZHU.

Aphex Twin, Little Dragon, Deadmau5, Röyksopp and Robyn, and Matt Zo are up for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Ryan Adams, the Black Keys, and Jack White are up for Best Rock Performance. The Best Rap/Sung Collaboration nominees include ILoveMakonnen and Drake’s “Tuesday”, Kanye and Charlie Wilson’s “Bound 2″, and Schoolboy Q and BJ the Chicago Kid’s “Studio”. Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”, “Bound 2″, Kendrick Lamar’s “i”, Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz” and Drake’s “0 to 100″ are all up for Best Rap Song.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ Gone Girl score is up for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Karen O’s “The Moon Song” from Her is up for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The Pixies, Pearl Jam and FKA Twigs are up for Best Recording Package.

Paul Epworth, John Hill, Jay Joyce, Greg Kurstin, and Max Martin are up for Producer of the Year.

Four categories were revealed on “CBS This Morning” by Pharrell and Ed Sheeran: Record of the Year, Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Country Album. Ryan Seacrest announced the Best Pop Solo performance nominees (John Legend, Sia, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Pharrell) on his show.

Other nominees include Beyoncé, Pharrell, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande. Find the full list here.
