Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Releasing Collaborative LP Post Pop Depression, Touring Together

Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age / Eagles of Death Metal‘s Josh Homme have teamed up for a collaborative album called Post Pop Depression, The New York Times reports. It’s due out in March via Loma Vista. Update (2:27 p.m.): Pop and Homme will appear on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” tonight for their debut performance, according to QoTSA’s Instagram; the post also confirms the album’s release date: March 18.

Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita (also of the Dead Weather) plays guitars and keyboards on Post Pop Depression. Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders also contributed to the record. Pop and Homme plan on taking the album on the road, where they’ll be accompanied by Fertita and Helders, plus QotSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar) and Chavez’s Matt Sweeney (bass).  

Homme also revealed to the Times that it was “by a stroke of fate” that he didn’t perform with his other band Eagles of Death Metal at the Bataclan the night of the Paris attacks. “I guess it was my fate to be home and to bring them home,” he told the Times. “Bad things are like a sunset; they dissipate over time. But this is a long sunset. My dearest friends — how will they un-see that?”

Homme told the Times that making Post Pop Depression helped him overcome the trauma: “The fact that I had this to work on, it saved me,” he said.
