Iggy Pop Guest Designs Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope: All-Story Magazine

Iggy Pop has guest designed the Spring 2017 issue of Zoetrope: All-Story, the literary and art quarterly founded by Francis Ford Coppola. The collection features original artwork from Iggy, as well as items from his collection. In a note to readers, Iggy writes, “Here are my treasures, and my companions. I gave them life, and they give me consolation. It is a pleasure to share them in this way. They are part of my spirit.” Check out the cover below.

Past designers for Zoetrope include Anohni, Michael Stipe, PJ Harvey, David Bowie, Bill Callahan, Beck, Lou Reed, Thurston Moore, Laurie Anderson, Tom Waits, Will Oldham, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Mothersbaugh, and David Byrne.

The issue arrives during a special week for Iggy, who received France’s highest cultural award on Monday. The French Consul General, Clément Leclerc, awarded him with the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) during a ceremony in Miami. He also appears in the forthcoming French film Starlight. Directed by Sophie Blondy, the film focuses on a small circus by the sea, with Iggy playing an angel character. The film will be available to purchase on May 9. Watch the trailer below.
