Janelle Monáe Cast in Robert Zemeckis’ New Film With Steve Carell, Leslie Mann

After star turns in Moonlight and Hidden Figures last year, Janelle Monáe is returning to the big screen for another project. She has been cast in Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming film, which also stars Steve Carell and Leslie Mann. Details about the project—including the title—are still under wraps, but it’s based on the 2010 documentary titled Marwencol, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Carrell plays a man who has experienced severe trauma, and discovers the therapeutic possibilities of art. Monáe’s films last year were both nominated for Oscars. Moonlight ended up beating favored La La Land for Best Picture in a surprise turn. Her excellent album The Electric Lady came out in 2013.
