Jarvis Cocker Releases Neil Gaiman TV Series Soundtrack: Listen

Earlier this year, it was announced that Jarvis Cocker had written the soundtrack for “Likely Stories,” a four-part TV series based on the short stories of author Neil Gaiman. That soundtrack now has a a release date: Music From “Likely Stories” is out digitally May 27 via Rough Trade; it’s also out as a 7” EP today in the UK and on June 3 in the United States. Cocker worked with Adrian Utley of Portishead (who plays on “Theme From ‘Likely Stories’”) and others for the EP, which marks his first musical release since 2009’s Further Complications. In a press release, he described the songs as, “Four grubby tales set in all night cafes, low rent drinking dens and doctor’s surgeries,” adding, “I didn’t have to leave my comfort zone for this assignment.” See the tracklist and cover art below. The first episode of “Likely Stories” will air on Sky Arts on May 26. The series was directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, the duo behind Nick Cave documentary 20,000 Days on Earth.
