Jenny Lewis Forms New Band NAF (Nice As Fuck) With Au Revoir Simone’s Erika Forster and the Like’s Tennessee Thomas
On April 4, a host of artists came together for Bern NY Bern, a benefit for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The evening saw performances from Wild Belle, Chappo, So So Glows, and more, as well as the debut of a new band, Nice As Fuck. The trio comprises Jenny Lewis, Au Revoir Simone‘s Erika Forster, and the Like‘s Tennessee Thomas. The supergroup’s show wasn’t a one-off, either. As Brooklyn Vegan points out, they’ll be hitting the road with Lewis’ former touring partner M. Ward (who’s currently playing shows behind his recent album More Rain) later this month. This marks the second supergroup Forster and Thomas have formed in two years. In early 2015, they teamed up with Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture and New York-based musician Lewis Lazar to form Summer Moon. In 2014, Lewis released her latest album The Voyager. Au Revoir Simone released Move in Spectrums in 2013. The Like, meanwhile, are currently on hiatus. The Los Angeles band’s most recent full-length was 2010′s Release Me LP.
Several artists have been showing their support for Senator Sanders in recent weeks. Best Coast and the Thermals have each played sets at recent rallies, and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon introduced the candidate at an event in Eau Claire, WI over the weekend.
