Joanna Newsom Chats, Performs "A Pin-Light Bent" On "Seth Meyers"

Joanna Newsom was a guest on last night’s episode of “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” After performing “A Pin-Light Bent” from Divers, she sat down with Meyers for a long conversation about her music and marriage to Andy Samberg. They talked about the creation of her new album, the self-imposed rules behind her music, what it’s like to lug around her harp, how she met Samberg (and the obscenity she screamed at him the moment they met), and much more. Among the highlights from the interview was her talking about how much she loved Lord of the Rings. She revealed that she asked Samberg’s agent to get her a role in The Hobbit movies. “I would have been stoked to be an orc,” she said. “Just a background orc chewing on a leg or something.”
