Justin Bieber and Skrillex Sued by White Hinterland Over “Sorry"

Casey Dienel, the musician who records as White Hinterland, has filed a lawsuit against Justin Bieber and Skrillex over Bieber’s 2015 hit “Sorry,” as TMZ reports. In the lawsuit, Dienel claims the song mimics the “unique characteristics of the female vocal riff” from her 2014 song “Ring the Bell.” She said she asked Bieber to stop using the sample in December, but that she was ignored. (“Sorry” was released in October.) The song’s co-writers—Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Michael Tucker—are also listed on the lawsuit. Dienel is asking for money, as well as for Bieber to stop playing the song.
