Kanye’s Surprise NYC Pop-Up Shows Cancelled

Kanye's Surprise NYC Pop-Up Shows Cancelled

Last night, Kanye West was supposed to perform at Governors Ball in New York. When that show was cancelled, he made other plans, performing instead at Hot 97′s Summer Jam alongside his G.O.O.D Music labelmates. But his night didn’t end there: Kanye’s team were making plans for a last-minute 2 a.m. show at Webster Hall. Huge crowds gathered outside the venue as Kanye associates, including 2 Chainz, Virgil Abloh, and Kim Kardashian, teased the event. (An hour before the scheduled show, Kanye tweeted, “Show at 2am SOLD OUT.”) Just before 2 a.m., amid scenes of “bedlam” outside as fans chanted Kanye lyrics and “Fuck Governors Ball,” the venue tweeted, “There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely.” Reps at the venue made the announcement over loudspeaker, before police dispersed the crowd.

As Kanye and Travis Scott cruised around the venue, shaking fans’ hands through a car sunroof, further efforts were under way to find a new pop-up venue. Fans flocked to Trump Soho after DONDA and Mike Dean talked up the location, but those plans, finally, fell through as well. At 4:10 a.m., Dean tweeted, “Thanks to everyone. We tried pop up shows at 3 places. All shut down.” See footage of Kanye and Travis Scott’s Webster Hall cruise below.
