Yesterday, Kendrick Lamar was honored by the California State Senate, who named him the 35th Senate District’s Generational Icon. In a speech, state Senator Isadore Hall III praised Kendrick’s rise from Compton local to worldwide star, as well as his continued ties to his neighborhood. After accepting the award, Kendrick gave a short speech in which he talked about giving back to his community. You can watch a video below, via Complex.
