Killer Mike Says It’s OK to “Fuck Up” Richard Spencer
The video of white nationalist Richard Spencer getting punched while giving an interview has become a widely circulated meme, at this point. The clip has been re-edited countless times to different songs. Killer Mike tweeted one version of the clip soundtracked by Run the Jewels’ “Blockbuster Night Part 1” with the comment, “This is amazing.” Mike then spent the morning responding to critics of that tweet. He called Spencer a “nazi wanna be” and wrote, “I think it’s ok for a white guy to knock the shit outta a nazi, still.” He also noted, “Last I checked Nazis were still on My Granddads ‘fuck up on site’ list.” Read Mike’s tweets below.
For what it’s worth, in the original video just before he gets punched, Spencer tells a stranger that he doesn’t identify as a Nazi. Spencer is a white nationalist and member of the alt-right—the movement that espouses anti-immigrant, anti-feminist, and anti-Semitic ideology. There’s video of Spencer giving a speech featuring Nazi rhetoric; the crowd responds with Nazi salutes.
Just yesterday, Tim Heidecker shared a song encouraging listeners to punch Spencer if they see him in the wild.
