It might not be the best idea to name your product “Kraftwerk“—an iconic band that’s been around since 1970 already has that name. The German electronics company eZelleron, Inc. are learning that lesson the hard way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kraftwerk’s Ralf Hütter has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the company for naming their new charger “kraftwerk“.

The charger takes advantage of a new fuel cell technology and was recently funded via Kickstarter, where it raised over $1.5 million. The complaint filed in a Delaware court states, “Consumers are likely to assume that there is a connection, association, or relationship between the famous electronic music band and a charger for portable musical-playing devices.”

Hütter owns trademark registration on the name. “Kraftwerk” is German for “power station”.
