Labyrinth Book Offers Behind-the-Scenes Look at David Bowie’s Role

A new book is offering an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at Labyrinth, the cult classic David Bowie-starring Jim Henson film. Labyrinth: The Ultimate Visual History, written by Paula Block and Terry Erdmann, is out October 18 via Insight Editions. Find the book’s cover below.

There are exclusive excerpts over on Entertainment Weekly, including a page about Bowie’s character, Jareth the Goblin King. The excerpt confirms that other musicians were considered for the role. In handwritten notes, Henson named Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddie Mercury, Sting, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey, David Lee Roth, Ted Nugent, and of course, Bowie as potential candidates for the part. Find more excerpts from the book here.

Earlier this year, it was reported that a Labyrinth sequel was in the works.
