Liam Gallagher Apologizes for Tweeting Homophobic Slur

Liam Gallagher has apologized after tweeting a homophobic slur directed at Russian soccer fans. In the initial tweet, posted yesterday and since deleted, Gallagher responded to violence between Russian and England’s fans after the countries’ Euro 2016 clash this Saturday. “Russian hooligans skintight shorts bumbags batty boy muscles ha ha,” he wrote. “I’d be more worried bout getting me arse pinched.” Following criticism, he retracted his comments this morning, tweeting, “If I’ve upset anybody with my tweets I apologise that includes you RKID as you were.” (RKID refers to his older brother Noel.)

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Noel Gallagher is Liam’s younger brother.
