Lil B Lifts Curse on James Harden

Lil B Lifts Curse on James Harden

On May 24, 2015, Lil B placed the Based God’s Curse on Houston Rockets star James Harden. It was not without warning. Harden had been using B’s signature cooking dance as a celebration, yet did not acknowledge the Based God as its creator. Lil B issued several warnings, asking Harden only for credit on the dance. Recognition did not arrive—just the Based God’s Curse, and months later, a lie from Harden that he did not know who Lil B is. (He had tweeted about Lil B twice in 2011.)

In the ensuing years, the Based God eased up, lifting a different curse on one-time rival Kevin Durant. Then, on May 11, Harden and the Rockets painfully exited the 2017 NBA Playoffs, eliciting further sympathy from B, who tweeted the next day, “I apologize to James harden I’m ready to talk and end the curse… it’s time to talk and be the leader everyone believes you are.” Finally, it has ended. On June 4, over two years after the initial curse, Lil B lifted the Based God’s Curse from James Harden while on ESPN’s “First Take.” Watch it below.

James Harden recently appeared in Travis Scott’s new video for “way back,” the Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight song that references the Rockets guard. Included in the visual is footage from a 2015 ESPN appearance where B discussed the then-active curse. Check it out here.
